We understand  that hiring and driving the 3 wheeler is meant to be an experience and a special treat, and that our notoriously unreliable weather could transform a day out in the countryside into something of an ordeal! 

As a result, the booking process has 3 stages:

1. At least 7 days before the booking we will require copies of the ID documents set out below (scanned and email copies will suffice (send to: alex@3wheelerhirenorthyorkshire.co.uk))

2. In addition we will also require the £500 security deposit 2 days prior to hire. We use a security deposit website called Charge Automation and a separate email will come out to you shortly: we also use a secure online payment facility called Stripe to handle all our of payments. When the car is returned damage-free then the deposit refund is generated and should be back on your card or account within a couple of days.

3. Bearing in mind the weather, we would ask guests to confirm their attendance 48 hours before the booking. We took a deliberate decision to sell packages rather than dates, and suspect no-one wants to take the car out in bad weather as there is very little protection! So if the forecast is looking bad just get in touch and we can postpone your trip to another day in the hope that it will have improved.

Terms and conditions apply:

Prior to hiring you must provide: 

1. Copy of the photo card drivers’ licence (Address & ID must be up to date) 

2. Online licence check - https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licencenumber 

3. Two forms of proof of address (Must meet all mentioned criteria below) 

4. Cleared a traceable security deposit (BACS, Credit/Debit Card, PayPal, Cheque etc. – £500) 

5. Signed rental agreement 

Additional criteria:- 1. Must meet the specified age limit (23-75) and have at least 2 years driving experience (Full UK or EU Licence) 

2. Two, 3 point convictions are acceptable (i.e. 2x Sp30’s, 3pts each) without referral. Single convictions totalling 6 points+ will require referral. 

The following documentation is acceptable for proof of address alongside the drivers licence 

You must provide the following: - 

• 1 utility bill / statement (primary form of proof) 

• 1 of the documents listed below (secondary proof) 

Key document criteria: 

• Both must be dated within 90 days of the hire date 

• The address & name on your licence must match both documents 

What is acceptable:- 

• Utilities are as follows: Electricity, Water, Gas, Broadband, Council tax or Landline 1 of the following alongside a utility:- 

• TV/internet/landline telephone bill (Including Sky/Virgin/BT etc) 

• Bank or Credit Statement 

• Credit card bill / statement 

• Mortgage statement 

• Mobile Phone Bills (subject to being under the age of 25. Will require referral) 

What is declined:- 

• Any document relating to insurance. 

• Any document that does not meet the above mentioned criteria – please contact us if you are unsure.

During the hire period, you must acknowledge and agree to the following conditions:

1. In the event of any accidental damage, the security deposit will be retained in full and the hirer will be responsible for the £750 excess in respect of any claim.

2. For 2-day car-hire only, the hirer is responsible for arranging secure, covered overnight parking for the vehicle, and proof of the same will be required at the time of booking to comply with the insurance terms and conditions.

3. The insurance extends only to drivers who have provided ID documents and have had cover arranged in line with the self-drive hire insurance conditions set out above, and the insured driver must not permit or allow any other party to use or drive the vehicle irrespective of location or insurance status of the other party.

4. So far as is reasonably practicable, the hirer must undertake to protect the vehicle from rain and water damage. In the event of inclement weather the hirer should seek appropriate cover (garage forecourt etc), and the vehicle should be parked under cover where possible.

5. The vehicle must not be left parked and unattended without the tonneau cover in place at all times.
